1. Jesus is condemned
to death We adore you, O Christ, and we
praise you.
Because, by your holy cross, you have redeemed the
world.
In the morning the chief priests, elders, scribes
and the whole council, binding Jesus, led him away and took him
to Pilate. And they all condemned him, saying: He is guilty of death;
we have found this man saying that he is
Christ the King. And Pilate, sitting in the place of judgement,
handed him over to be crucified.
Lord Jesus, it was not Pilate; no, it was my sins
that condemned you to die. I beseech you, by the merits of this
sorrowful journey, to assist my soul on its journey to eternity.
